Oops......it has been a really long time!

I guess we kind of slipped on updating our blog............big time!

Many things have happened since our last blog, so I will highlight a few!

1) Christmas Break was awesome and we really enjoyed our time away! We spent 5 or 6 days with family and loved all the relaxation time! However, our biggest news from the holiday season was our winnings in Shreveport after Christmas. Brian spent lot of time on the poker table and walked away winning just over $1000! He is quite the player in Shreveport and left many guessing at his strategy of playing! Although he doesn't have a specific type of play, it worked and he was thrilled! I, on the other hand, found my way to a blackjack table with $100 in my pocket. In what seemed like 24 hours (actual time was 7 hours), I turned my $100 into $2600! I have never in my life had that much fun playing blackjack and to this day I swear it was a dream! I know in the future we will return to our favorite place in Shreveport (Eldorado Casino), I do not expect to win that big again........well, anytime soon!

2. Brian's college teaching career is on hold...........for now. With such a short time after Brian was hired until the spring semester, there was not enough time to get enough kids registered for his classes. So, hopefully during the spring semester Navarro is promoting his classes and he will begin teaching either in the summer or fall of 2008. He is still hopeful and Navarro is very interested in getting the classes started up again soon! Keep your fingers crossed!

3. My directorial debut! Yes, I with no tallent in the drama field have taken on the directors roll for Blooming Grove HS One Act Play! I honestly didn't think I would enjoy it all that much but I have found myself loving it! The students that I casted to be in the play are absolutly amazing and because they are so enthusiastic, I am the same way. Of course there are frustrations and trying to find practice times, getting everyone there and moving on when someone goofs up! The funniest frustration of all has to be that I had to write a letter to the head honcho of One Act Plays in Austin asking permission for 3 of my cast members to leave early from the competion because they must go show their chickens and goats at the Livestock Show! Yes, they will be able to do the entire play but must leave immediately afterwards and will not be around for the judges ruling!

I am sorry for not posting a new blog sooner! I will have to update you on the progress of the play and any funny stories that occur!

Until next time, I hope you are all doing well!

We love you all!

Christmas Season

Well our Christmas break is about to start in a couple of days. We cannot wait for the relaxation to get here. I am really excited about getting out of town. Lindsey brought it to my attention that since the school year has began, I have only been out of town once. Thanksgiving!!!! However, that holiday was cut short due to playoff football games. Football, Volleyball, Playoff Football, Boys' Basketball, Girls' Basketball, and now Navarro College courses have kept my free time to a minimum. Lindsey has been the greatest in supporting me throughout these hectic days. I love her for that. I owe her a lot. The holiday season will be a blissful rest for my weary self. I cannot wait enjoy the Christmas Season with family in Lufkin and in Tyler. The happy faces during this time of joy will certainly rejuvenate my spirit. God Bless you all and a Merry Christmas to you.

Brian

A Proud Wife

A few weeks ago, Brian attended a conference at Navarro College. While there he engaged in many conversations with a man of great importance in the technology department! By the end of the day, Brian agreed to teach a few gaming courses in the spring semester. After a few meetings and signing the appropriate papers, he is scheduled to teach two classes, starting in January 2008. Both classes will be offered at night, which has no interference with his day job!
As many of you know, Brian is down right intelligent when it comes to technology. He gets so excited when speaking of new things, or when something wonderful happens regarding technology. So much so, that I have truly perfected the nod and smile look, followed by, "That's great Brian!" That is my way of saying I am listening but I just don't understand everything you are saying!
With that said, I have never seen Brian more excited about teaching. Navarro College has sent an e-mail out inviting other faculty members to introduce themselves to him and welcoming him to the staff. His exact words when forwarding me that e-mail were, "This is so cool!"
While I probably don't tell him enough, I wanted to share with him and everyone else just how proud I am of him.
Brian, you are truly an amazing educator, with a huge passion for helping students advance in the technology world. While I don't always understand your stories and facts about technology, I love listening to you! Good luck in the spring and I pray you will one day get that dreaded Masters degree! I love you!
